Juicy Instant Pot Poached Pears – No Sweetener Needed

I’ve always thought poaching things required a fancy outfit and a skill beyond my own. Then I learned it’s just cooking something in hot water and wondered how people charged $20 for poached anything at fancy restaurants. These instant pot poached pears take only 3 minutes plus the time it takes the instant pot to come to pressure. These pears tasted caramelized, juicy, and can be mouth jazzed up with cinnamon.

I’ve learned just how juicy fruit is when cooked in water, and that you should drink the water after.

These pears are so juicy and even have a caramelized flavor to them as the sugar molecules transform. The warmth of them is so comforting, especially when you add Allspice. If you want them to taste more vibrant for the spring feel free to add basil microgreens, but right now I feel we could all use some comfort.

How to Make Instant Pot Poached Pears

You do not need to peel the skin or cut these pears at all. Simply put the whole pears in the pot, pressure cook, and once cooled you can either eat them like you would a raw pear or use a fork and knife to consume.

An instant pot takes some time to reach pressure, usually about five minutes. Once you pop these pears in the pot all you have to do is add the water, set the timer manually, and then quick-release the pressure. Make sure to remove the lid soon after the pressure is released or they will continue cooking. Let them rest for five minutes to cool down the heat and then enjoy.
